英语专业论文写作指南

一、毕业论文写作安排及要求
(1)  Selecting A Topic
The Titles Of Theses Shall Be Submitted To The Department Office For Approval Not Later Than Two Weeks Before The Seventh Semester Ends. Thereafter No Modification Of The Title Can Be Made Without Further Approval By The Supervisor.
第七学期最后两周前:选题
 
(2)  Supervisor
Students Shall Be Assigned To The Supervisors After The Titles Of Theses Are Submitted. (Students Can Approach Their Preferred Supervisors But The Appointment Shall Be Made By The Department.)
导师在学生提交论文题目后指定。在系做出统筹安排导师之前,学生可与教师相互协商,向系办公室提出建议。
 
(3)  First Drafts Of Theses
Students Shall Submit The First Drafts Of Their Theses To The Supervisors In The Eighth Week Of The Eighth Semester.
第八学期第八周:提交论文初稿。
 
(4)  Deadline For Submission Of Theses
By The End Of The Twelfth Week, Students Shall Submit Three Printed Copies Of Their Theses To The Department Office. Supervisors Would Get Copies From The Office For Comments. Theses Shall Conform To The Layout And Other Requirements Described In (5) And (6). Theses Shall Not Be Accepted After The Deadline.
第八学期第十二周周末前,提交三份打印好的论文,过期不受理。论文交系办公室,导师到办公室领取有正式封面的论文写评语和判分。
 
(5)  Requirements Of Theses
A. The Thesis Shall Represent Part Of The Knowledge The Student Has Acquired During The 4 Years Of Study And Must Be Partly Original. The Originality Shall Be Shown Either By The Discovery Of New Facts Or By Independent Judgments.
B. The Thesis Shall Contain The Student’S Own Account Of His/Her Research.
C. The Thesis Shall Be Not Less Than 6,000 Words And Not More Than 8,000 Words In English.
D. Pure Translation Is Not Acceptable While Comments On Translation Are Encouraged.
论文要求:
A、论文应与本系专业有关;
B、独立完成;
C、6000-8000字;
D、毕业论文可以是翻译评论,但不接受单纯的翻译文本。
 
(6) Format Of The Thesis论文结构
A. The Cover Page (Provided By The University) With The Title Of The Thesis In Both English And Chinese, Full Name Of The Student, Full Name Of The Supervisor, And The Date Of Submission.
B. The Abstract (400-500 Words, In Both English And Chinese).
C. Key Words In English And Chinese (6-8 Words Just Below The Abstract).
D. The Table Of Contents.
E. The Main Text.
F. End-Notes.
G. List Of References Following The FLS Format.
H. Appendices (Possible But Not Required).
I. Penalty For Plagiarism:If A Student Submits A Dissertation Which Is Partly Or Wholly A Product Of Plagiarism, He Will Be Given An“F”Score.
毕业论文规格及要求:(摘自中大[1998]118号文件) 所有毕业论文一律用计算机打印。规格要求:论文题目用标准三号黑体字;单位名称、指导教师及作者用标准四号楷体字;正文用五号宋体字;论文用A4纸印刷;毕业论文的封面及封底由学校统一印发。
(以下规定选自中大教务处2000年3月14日通知)
1. 论文结构(按前后顺序)包括:中英文主标题、中英文论文摘要 (按中文计算约400 - 500字,并在摘要下面列出关键词)、 正文、注释、参考文献;
2. 所引的数据和观点应在注释中标明具体出处;
3. 要求在参考文献中有一定的外文文献;
4. 严禁任何抄袭或复制他人论的作弊行为,违者记为不及格,并按课程考试作弊处理;
5. 各单位应进一步扩大本科生毕业论文的答辩面,并对导师的评语和成绩评定标准加以规范。

(8) Oral Defense
Oral Defense Shall Be Held In The Fourteenth Week Of The Eighth Semester. All Teachers Are Supposed To Take Part In This Academic Activity.
论文答辩:第八学期第十四周举行,全体教师参加。
 
(9) Objectives For The Oral Defense答辩目的
A. To Verify The Authenticity Of The Writing.
B. To Check The Oral Presentation Of The Students.
C. To Double Check And Balance The Grades Given By The Supervisor.
检查论文的可信程度、学生的口头表述能力、评分是否合理。
 
(10) Procedures For The Oral Defense答辩程序
A. 15-20 Min. Altogether For Each Student.
B. 3-5 Min. Of A Summary Of The Thesis By The Student.
C. 10-15 Min. For The Questions And Answers.
每场答辩15-20分钟;学生讲论文摘要3-5分钟;提问与回答10-15分钟。

B= Some Background Information (A General Introduction)
P= Purpose And The Principle Activity (Usually A Specific Problem)
M= The Main Information About The Methodology Used
R= The Most Important Results Of The Study
C= A Statement About Your Conclusion Or The (Kind Of) Closing Recommendation(S) You Make.
 
 
三、注释及参考文献格式要求
(说明:本格式参阅了MLA、CMS和《外语教学与研究》的格式,部分例子源于其他学术刊物。)
Ⅰ注释 End-Notes And In-Text Citations
毕业论文的注释采用尾注和夹注,不采用脚注。
End-Notes (Rather Than Foot-Notes) And In-Text Citations Are Used In Graduation Theses.
 
1尾注  End-Notes
在正文需注释处的右上方按顺序加注数码①②③……,在全文之后写注文,每条加对应数码,同行时与上行注文对齐。
Use Numbered Endnotes At The End Of The Thesis To Indicate The Authority Of Stated Opinions, Facts, Or Exact Quotations.
 
2夹注  In-Text Citations
某些引文或所依据的文献无需详细注释者,以夹注的形式随文在括弧内注明。
The Citations Are Placed In Parentheses () Within The Text.
A. 来自专著的直接引语,作者姓名在文中已经出现 
Direct Quotations From A Book, Author’S Name In Text
格式:出版年份:页码。
Format:  Year: Page Number(S).
Example:

B. 来自专著的直接引语,作者姓名在文中没有出现

格式:作者姓名,出版年份:页码。
Format:  Author’S Last Name, Year: Page Number(S).
Example:
